Age: canon age unknown, maybe 3000+ years? Looks around a late 20s humanwise

Gender/Sex: male

Appearance: Tall, over six feet with dark hair (close to black) and dark brown eyes. As with all elves, he has pointed ears of that race. He looks like a human male in their late twenties but with an ageless quality to it as he is immortal like all elves. I'm using Takeshi Kaneshiro as his PB.

History:
Not much is known of his early history but he was first mentioned as one of the two great captains of Doriath under King Elu Thingol, him and Mablung. Beleg is usually on duty patrolling the northern borders Doriath but occasionally will also leave the kingdom on official business (to attend Mereth Aderthad) or at his request (to take part in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad).

He was also part of the quest to retrieve one the the Simarils, hunting the wolf Carcharoth alongside Beren, King Thingol, Mablung, and Huan the Hound.

Later on he became the good friend of Turin Turimbar, playing a big role in Turin's life. They met when Turin was seven years old, sent by his mother to be fostered by King Thingol. And for the next nine years while Turin was living in Menegroth, Beleg made special trips back to the city just to look for Turin and taught him woodcraft, archery and swordsmanship. At the end of those nine years, Turin joined Beleg on the marches of Doriath and the two of them working together gained fame and renown through their deeds together. It’s said that they were ‘companions in every peril, and walked far and wide in the wild woods together.’ After Turin was accused of killing Saeros intentionally and then exiled himself for it, Beleg volunteered to go after him when King Thingol pardons him saying that "I will seek Turin until I find him, and I will bring him back to Menegroth, if I can; for I love him also." Even after he found Turin (after a very long journey and many hardships) and was unable to persuade him to go back to Doriath with him, Beleg eventually joined the group of outlaws Turin was leading and together they fought again as captains against the forces of Morgoth. Eventually however their group was betrayed and Turin was captured by orcs. Though he was badly wounded himself, Beleg went after Turin anyway. Eventually he was able to rescue Turin, but in the middle of freeing Turin from his shackles he accidentally cut the unconscious man, waking him. And Turin having been tortured by orcs after he was captured, thought Beleg was another one of his torturers, overpowered Beleg and killed him with Beleg's own sword.

Personality:
Outwardly, Beleg is very much a loner and an introvert, preferring his own company rather than that of a group of people. He probably was the quiet type and doesn't talk much. That didn't mean he didn't have friends though, since it was stated outright that he 'had many friends'. He was shown to be extremely loyal to them. Beleg was also extremely independent, described as 'obeyed no man'. And like most Sindar he can be impetuous and passionate. To go with his loyalty, he also has a big sense of duty. Beleg is also a kind being underneath, taking a young human child under his wing and using his healing skills liberally among other humans. And as certain human outlaws and Turin would attest through a trick played on them, Beleg does have a sense of humour.

Abilities/Skills:
Woodsmen/Hunter/Tracker/Rider: Most of the Sindar were good woodmen and Beleg was considered exceptional among them. In fact, he was known as the greatest woodsmen of his Age, as quoted: "for the skill of Beleg was greater than any that have been in Middle-Earth.” He is so lightfooted that he can walk across on top of snow or soundlessly through a leafy forest.

Bowman: It’s part of his name; Cúthalion means Strongbow and Beleg was known for his extraordinary bowmanship. His bow, Belthronding was an enchanted bow made of black yew. It was buried with him when he died. Along with the bow was also a special arrow called Dailir. It never missed and Beleg could ALWAYS find it again unbroken after firing it.

Swordsman: The bow was Beleg's primary weapon but he was well versed in swordsmanship as well as in the use of knives. He is also ambidextrous. Near the end of his life, he knew a bow wouldn't be enough so he asked King Thingol for a sword. Anglachel, created by the dark elf Eol was the one he chose. Anglachel had a certain level of sentient awareness as Melian could feel malice emanating from it. It liked drinking the blood of those it cut. Eventually Beleg was killed by it.

Warrior/Leader: He was the one of the two chief marchwardens for Doriath and led both elves and men against orcs and other foul creatures of Sauron and Morgoth.

Healer: Beleg was a master healer and successfully healed several humans that would have died if not for his aid. There was also one incident where he was severely injured but "he was mighty among the Elves of Middle-Earth, and he was moreover a master of healing. Therefore he did not die, and slowly his strength returned.”

Immortality: Immortal and ageless, elves don’t die unless out of grief or slain in battle, after which their fea goes to the Halls of Mandos to stay or wait for reincarnation. The don’t suffer the same diseases that humans do, had no need of sleep unless they choose to (usually because they’re injured or just really tired). Instead of sleeping usually they go into a meditative state where they can communicate with one another (a form of telepathy). Extreme temperatures also don’t bother them as much.

Heightened senses: Compared to humans, elves have much better sight and hearing. They’re also more agile and light footed, and can stay balanced in situations that humans would have fallen, as well as walking on snow instead of sinking into it. Elves are also connected to nature, with a very basic form of empathy with animals.

Open-mindedness"/Sanwe-latya: He is able to communicate with nature, both with living (trees, animals) and non-living things (rocks, bodies of water.) He is also capable of communicating mind to mind with other sentient beings but isn't in general very practiced in using it.

Languages: He was quite proficient in several languages that were in use in his time. Sindarin for the most part as it was the language in used in Doriath during much of his life and partial knowledge of Quenya, which he would have learned as a Doriath's chief marchwarden and on his trips outside of Doriath. He also would have been proficient in the languages used by the humans of that time.

Inventory:
Belthronding - His enchanted bow made of black yew.
Dailir - a special arrow that never missed and Beleg could ALWAYS find it again unbroken after firing it. It arrives broken with Beleg.
Hunting knife x 2
Clothes he was wearing, a light grey cloak and light leather armour, in shades of grey, brown and green, with leather boots and belt.
